ITINERARY:

Embark on this extraordinary 3-day 4WD adventure, where access to remarkable sights and unforgettable campsites is an experience that goes beyond. Let us guide you on an exploration of the Red Centre like no other via the Mereenie Loop Red Centre Way. Your expert local guide will uncover some of the incredible secrets the Red Centre has to offer with guided -commentary, stories and hidden gems that really bring this place to life. We have comfortable twin safari tents providing a little more privacy, comfort,  and security, or you can try out a traditional swag experience (canvas-covered bed roll).

Day 1: Yulara / Ayers Rock to Kings Canyon

Join us as we venture into the rugged wilderness, embracing the magic of the Kings Canyon region, and discovering the true essence of the Australian outback. Departing from Yulara / Ayers Rock after lunch, as the afternoon sun casts a warm glow over the rugged landscapes of the breathtaking Kings Canyon region, a hidden gem nestled in the vast wilderness. Enjoy a sumptuous and hearty meal around the campfire to feed those hungry eyes and allow you to get to know your fellow travellers. As the night unfolds, a blanket of stars spreads above, illuminating the vast desert sky, and you'll feel a profound connection to the untamed wilderness around you. Meals: Dinner (*lunch is not included for guests being collected at Yulara Airport). Accom: Kings Creek Station - Permanent Safari Tents or Bush Swags (communal campground facilities). Driving Distance: 406 km  (4.5 Hours). Hike Distance: 2-6 km / 2-4 hours (*weather dependent).

Day 2:  Kings Canyon to West MacDonnell Ranges

Discover the awe-inspiring Kings Canyon (Watarrka) like never before with our unforgettable expedition. Embark on a journey into the ancient landscape and sacred grounds of the Ulpanyali and Lilla people as we set off early to explore this majestic wonder. At the heart of Watarrka National Park (Kings Canyon), you'll be immersed in breathtaking beauty, surrounded by towering 100-meter cliff faces and sandstone chasms that will leave you in awe. Prepare to be captivated by jaw-dropping backdrops that evoke an indescribable sense of wonder. Lace-up your sturdy shoes, grab your water and hat, and join us as we venture on foot to explore the most captivating part of the canyon in intricate detail. Enjoy the scenic Mereenie Loop which takes you past untouched landscapes with less driving time, and more sightseeing opportunities to reach the enchanting West MacDonnell Ranges, where an evening of stargazing awaits at our cozy safari camp.  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Day 3:  Standley Chasm and Tjoritja West MacDonnell Ranges to Alice Springs

Explore the captivating Standley Chasm, traditionally known as Angkerle Atwatye, meaning “Gap of Water”, nestled among the West MacDonnell Ranges. Spot native wildlife at dawn while enjoying breakfast and looking forward to the day ahead. Marvel at the towering red walls of Ormiston Gorge, created by massive geological forces. Dip into the refreshing waters of Ellery Creek Bighole (Udepata), surrounded by tall red cliffs and sandy shores. After admiring nature's finest, we leisurely journey back to Alice Springs, making a final stop at the enchanting Simpsons Gap, where dreaming trails and stories intersect. This region features a permanent waterhole and abundant wildlife. Conclude your unforgettable experience, reminiscing about four days of exploration and cherished new friendships.   • Any meals not indicated within the itinerary. For those with special dietaries, we recommend you bring snacks as options are limited in the outback.

  • Sleeping bags can be hired from us onboard for $40 AUD, this includes cleaning costs. You are more than welcome to bring your own. Payment is made directly to the tour operator.

CHILD POLICY:

Children aged between 8 to 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian at all times. Not suitable for infants or children 7 years and under. Not suitable for infants or children 7 years and under, due to safety requirements and the level of fitness required to complete the walks.

WEATHER:

The weather in the Red Centre can fluctuate and be extreme. It is not unheard of for temperatures to reach over 50+ degrees Celsius in the dry season and in the evening the temperature drops dramatically.  Please ensure you have checked the average temperatures for the time of year you are travelling and have packed adequate clothing. In the event of rain or inclement weather, your experience will still go ahead, unless contacted by the provider.

THINGS TO KNOW:

  • Mandatory passenger details are required at the time of booking: each passenger’s first name and surname / each passenger’s date of birth / arrival point and flight number details ie. AYQ / QF728 12:35 (01/04/23) / lead passenger’s contact phone number (international or Australian)
  • While we endeavour to cater to most dietary needs, passengers must advise dietary requirements to their booking agent at the time of booking. As we are venturing to remote areas we are very limited in what we can source once the tour departs, therefore prior notice is required.
  • The tour operator must be notified of any known medical conditions at the time of booking to assist in our guiding and ensuring the health and safety of all guests throughout the tour.
  • A minimum moderate to advanced level of fitness is required to complete the walks. The length of walks will be between 2km to 6km each day, often over steep rocky sections and in direct sunlight and high humidity. An approximate 12-15km walk is included in this tour. Embarking on walks will be at the guide’s discretion to ensure the safety of guests. Therefore a medium/high level of fitness is required and a doctor's certificate is required for people over 70 years (30 days prior to travel).
  • Children aged between 8 to 17 years old, must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian at all times and must stay in private twin rooms. Not suitable for infants or children 7 years and under. 
  • Limited storage space on our vehicle, baggage kept to 1 x 15kg travel bag, 1 x 5kg day bag. 
  • This tour is not suitable for mobility-impaired travellers, wheelchairs, walkers or strollers.
  • Itineraries may vary to adapt to seasonal changes and occasionally sites in the parks close or do not allow swimming. As safety is our top priority we plan accordingly to ensure our guests have the most fun and best experience possible while on tour. 
  • Guests are asked to participate in the preparation of meals, clean up and vehicle unpacking/loading, so everyone can relax together after a long day touring. It’s also a great way to get to know and connect with your fellow travellers.
